Today, the river’s tide was quite low, and the water was still. There was an occasional ripple on the surface, but other than that, it was calm. An occasional bird whistled from the trees, and St Ives heard the gentle trickling of the water, but it was quiet beyond that. It was nice. Peaceful.

Just what he needed right now. St Ives stared out at the water, wishing he knew what he was going to do. Women had captured his attention before, but it was fleeting. Once he had his share of them, St Ives moved on. There were no hard feelings. If there were, they were never extended to St Ives.
